2017 New Jeep Compass Review

Jeep is a vehicle manufacturer whose history and legacy goes all the way back to the muddy, rough battlefields of World War II. The Willys Jeep that got troops where they needed to go continues to this very day, except now it's available in a whole range of options and styles. One of the best of these is the New Jeep Compass, the small affordable crossover SUV that still puts others in the class to shame in terms of off-road power.

It's little wonder that drivers in Berlin, Ocean City, and Salisbury love these adaptable little crossovers to get them wherever they want to go, whenever they want to get there. Check out the amazing redesign Jeep has brought to the table with the 2017 New Jeep Compass, and its features, technology, performance and ride from the team at Berlin Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (CDJR).

The New Jeep Compass

The 2017 Jeep Compass saw a complete and total redesign about halfway through the year, and that's the model you'll get on showroom floors right now. This new Compass has a tougher build, revised suspension, and streamlined choices of powertrain. It has a totally new look both inside and out, and is now in line with the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee.

In terms of technology, this year gives you a whole new suite of safety and driver aid features, an upgraded infotainment center, and the new Trailhawk trim level which brings stunning off-road ability to the table - or trails.

Features, Technology and Options

The 2017 New Jeep Compass comes in four different trim levels - the Sport trim, the mid-range Latitude, the range-topping Limited, and the off-road designed Trailhawk. Even at the base level you get solid technology and features.

These include a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, which delivers 175 pound-feet of torque and 180 horsepower, and is paired with a front-wheel drive six-speed manual transmission. You can get a nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive if you choose. You also get the Uconnect infotainment system with 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth and six speakers.

Higher level features include upgraded upholstery, towing packages, a suite of advanced safety features, 8.5-inch Uconnect touchscreen interface with smartphone integration, dual zone automatic climate control, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, power heated seats, and more.

Compass Trailhawk and Off-Roading

Of course, the legacy of Jeep is tied to off-roading, and with the introduction of the Trailhawk trim into the line, the new Compass upholds this legacy nicely. It comes in AWD with the nine-speed transmission, and features special 17-inch wheels with off-road-optimized tires. You also get a specially tuned, raised suspension and a front end design which improves breakover angles and approaches.

Combined with the Jeep Selec-Terrain system, this Jeep can handle any terrain and any incline thrown in its path. Underbody shields protect your undercarriage, engine, oil pan and gas tank from damage, and just so people know what you're driving, you get a Trailhawk-specific trim accent design.
